Our Staff
Chris Burt, MEd, and Susie Richards, MEd, have worked in the service-learning field for the past 14 years. Chris and Susie are currently co-coordinators of the Washington State Service-Learning Training Cadre. They provide workshops and consultation throughout Washington. Susie is currently the director of the South Whidbey Community Engagement Center, (one of the partner sites of the Northwest Rural Grant Project) and project director of the South Whidbey School District’s Learning and Community Engagement Program. Susie has taught at the middle and high school level and holds a graduate degree in community-based learning from Antioch University. Chris holds a graduate degree in curriculum and instruction and teaches curriculum and instruction courses throughout the country for Lesley University. He has worked in the public school system for the past 18 years, teaching at the middle and high school level with regular education and alternative programs. Chris and Susie’s classes are practical, and participants come away with relevant and practical resources and strategies for immediate implementation in their own classrooms and programs.
Rich Parker, MA OD, has been involved in the field of education for the last 24 years. He has taught in the public schools in Greenwich, Connecticut, and founded his own flight instruction school in Boulder, Colorado. Rich graduated from the
University of Bridgeport with a bachelor's degree in education and earned his master's degree in organization development with an emphasis in public education systems from Fielding Graduate University. Currently his company, the BigMind Group LLC, has been involved in designing and developing online communities and online learning environments for Fortune 100 companies, government agencies, education institutions, and non-profit organizations. He is a school board director for the South Whidbey School District and was recently selected as one of 44 school board directors and superintendents to
become members of the National Network of District Leaders for Service-Learning and Citizenship.
Nancy Snow, MS, serves as webmaster for this project. Her passion for service and master's degree in instructional design, plus several years teaching all levels from preschool to college faculty, provide breadth to her certificate in web design. |
