Mask Making!
Instructor: Diana Shirley
Class Times: Mondays 9:40PM-10:40AM, 10/31, 11/7, 11/21, 11/28, 12/5, 12/12
Class Location: Bayview Alternative School

Age Group: High School

Description: Use your imagination to make a clay mold, cover with light-weight papier-mache, then paint and decorate to create an art mask to wear or hang. On Friday, November 4th, attend Faustwork Mask Theatre at WICA to be inspired by artistic and cultural uses of masks

Make Soap Stones Beads
Instructor: Carol Way
Class Times: Thursday 2:20-3:20 pm 11/3, 10, 17, Dec 1, and 8
Class Location: Middle School Home Economics Room
Material Fee: $10
Maximum Number of Students: 15
Age Group: Middle School

Description: Design and manufacture soap stone beads which will then be made into necklaces. We can then sell them and donate the profits to a local charity.

Jazz Band II
Instructor: Matt Frost
Class Times: Tuesday and Thursday 2:20-3:00 pm, twice a week, starting November 1, 2005
Class Location: Middle School Band Room

Description: Jazz Band II would offer an opportunity for more students to experience and develop in jazz. The class will consist of introducing jazz techniques in a variety of styles: swing, Latin, funk and rock in a big band setting. Also, the class would be geared to younger students with the idea of developing proficiency and understanding of Jazz as to lead them on to Jazz Band I and into their High School career. Music will be performed at local organizations such as the Senior Center.

Introduction to Boxing
Instructor: Erik Jokinen
Class Times: Tuesday and Thursday 2:30-4:30 pm, twice a week, starting November 22, 05
Class Location: Middle School

Maximum Number of Students: 30
Age Group: Middle School

Description: Middle school students will learn all the fundamentals, such as discipline, sportsmanship and self confidence needed to join a boxing club. In addition they will have fun and get a good workout. Students in the club will use their newly acquired knowledge and skills to work with younger students after school.
